DEFINITIONUnder the supervision of the Program Director or Designee, the After School Program Leader I instructs and mentors children and facilitates positive learning experiences for students in a safe learning environment.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES1. Evaluate student progress to assist in planning for student needs. E2. Respond promptly and courteously to parent concerns and/or complaints. E3. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and performance. E 4. Ensure safety and supervision of program participants at all times. E 5. Ensure classrooms and other shared school space is well maintained and left as found. E 6. Communicate educational objectives for students. E7. Perform clerical duties for the purpose of maintaining accurate After School Program records. E8. Provides direct or small group instruction to support student learning. E9. Provide students with homework and tutoring assistance. E10. Manage classroom operations and maintain a cooperative and creative instructional environment. E11. Deliver daily instruction to assist students with literacy and mathematics. E12. Implement program components that lead to positive outcomes for enrolled children and families. E13. Maintain professionalism with parents, staff members and community members. E14. Actively participate in all staff development workshops. E15. Support positive discipline and student learning of self-management skills. E16. Develop positive relationships with the children, parents, volunteers, and school staff. E17. Facilitate student learning and development through developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities. E18. Develop and maintain a safe, supervised, and healthy After School Program learning environment. E19. Work cooperatively and effectively with volunteers. E20. Implement After School Program activities in accordance with IEP and 504 plans. E21. Accurately record and submit daily attendance and complete weekly attendance reports. E22. Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED1. Education/ Experience - Associate's Degree or higher academic degree, or completion of 48 units at an accredited college or university, or passage of the LUSD Proficiency Exam - Course work in child development, or related area, and/or volunteer experience with students is desirable - Job-related experience is desired2. Ability to - Understand and address students with special needs; Understand and carry out oral and written instructions; Maintain confidentiality of student related information; Meet schedules and deadlines; Read/interpret/apply site and District rules, regulations and policies; Rapidly learn methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations; Manually lift safely and effectively; Read and interpret state, federal and local regulations related to the After School Program; Work with little or no supervision; Work cooperatively with others; Work with youth in various settings; Organize and use time effectively; Keep records; Promote positive youth-adult relationships; Communicate orally and in writing; Work a flexible work schedule; Speak Spanish fluently is desirable3. Skill to - Use a computer to input data, communicate with others and keep records; Guide children constructively; Read notes, memos, and student reports of a moderately complex nature; Effectively interact with students, public, teachers and staff; Organizationally determine steps in a process and structure time effectively; Operate office, communication, and audio visual equipment; Assist in the maintenance of student files and retrieval of pertinent information; Deal with disruptive or abusive behavior4. Knowledge of - Proper English grammar, punctuation and sentence structure; Behavior management; Basic concepts of child development and typical child behavior characteristics; Appropriate human relations and student needs; Duties and responsibilities of an After School Program requirements; Mathematical concepts; Routine filing and record keeping procedures5. Responsibilities include - Working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organization's services. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; working in indoor and outdoor environments; and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.6. Licenses and other requirements - Valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
